Murder in the Escape Room
An exciting escape room murder mystery party for 6-10 guests (flex-gender), ages 15+ for difficulty. This is our traditional, mingling murder mystery format with a bonus escape room feature in addition to the murder mystery. The escape room will give clues to the mystery host in the storyline and then - a murder happens that the group must solve. There is an expansion pack available for this game that adds up to 6 players. This is an in-person game that is formatted to play face-to-face. For virtually-formatted games, click here.
Note: you will need to set up a DIY escape room as part of this game, so do not choose this game unless you have some time to plan and arrange your DIY escape room. Upon purchase, you'll have access to a website with instructions on how to set this up, but it will take some planning time on your part to design it in your home. You can set an escape room up in any room in your home with printable and common household items - no outside purchase is necessary. However, if you wish to be more elaborate with your escape room, we will provide you with instructions on how to DIY. Included: You will receive access to a website to learn how to design an escape room. There are four PDF files to download with this game - a host instruction file, printable file, solution key, and an optional free invitation file. You must use Adobe Reader (free software that you can download at Adobe.com) to view the PDF file, as a PDF is an Adobe product.

Murder Mystery Synopsis:
You received a mysterious invitation to an escape room party. The party address is a leased vacation home, so the host could be anyone in the fog-covered town of Noxhelm’s Crossing. You have no idea who invited you, but you are familiar with everyone on the guest list. The invitation says you will work as a team to escape the room before time runs out. You’ve always wanted to challenge yourself by solving a timed mystery in a room filled with puzzles, riddles, and codes.
You are intrigued by the host's choice of guests, as these are the most ambitious yet scandalous people in town. Putting this combination of powerful personalities into an intense scenario may have deadly consequences. Nevertheless, you’ve always considered yourself a daring person who loves a challenge. You have decided to attend this adventure. This is where your story begins.
In addition to the intriguing murder mystery instant download, you will have access to a site with instructions on how to set up your own escape room. You can set it up with printable materials and common household items or be as elaborate as you wish - we'll give you the instructions on DIY and you can set it up however you wish!

Worth the extra effort!
This was my third time hosting a mystery party, and it was definitely the most work, but well worth the extra effort. I held it for 13 people (used the expansion pack), so it was a larger group. Because of the bigger group I had to make the escape room puzzles with varying degrees of difficulty, but it was a huge success! You need a lot of extra time and attention to detail to plan it, so wait to do this one until you have a couple of easier parties under your belt first. Overall, it was great!

Fun but more work on host
My daughter and her friends have done several murder mysteries from My Mystery Party. They are lots of fun and easy to host. When we picked the Escape Room, I assumed it would again require minimal planning. However, the escape room portion is not scripted and requires quite a bit more work. It was fun and added a nice twist but it definitely takes more planning and set up (we spent several hours planning and setting up the escape room). The murder mystery portion is shortened a bit since you have the added escape room portion. All in all - very fun but a lot more work to host!

This was so fun. It was better than any other we have played. The escape room added such a great excitement. It was not hard at all to set up. I wish they had more of these!!

What a great night! There were yet 6 of us but it was so much fun! The instructions were easy to follow and there were some great ideas for the escape room. I would absolutely recommend this escape room Murder mystery dinner! Epic!

Great way to spend an evening with friends!
We used the download version of this game, and it has everything we needed to have a great party. None of us had done one before, so it was new to all of us, but the instructions really walked us through and made for a wonderful time with friends!

Lots of Fun!
We had a group of 8 players, 6 of them were 13 year old girls. None of us had done a murder mystery party before so we didn't know what to expect. Everyone had a great time. Mingling at the beginning of each round took us a bit of time, but we ended up sharing as a group and it didn't ruin anything.

A great birthday party for a teen!
I'm not sure who had more fun with this--my 15-year old daughter and her friends or me! I had a blast "constructing" the Escape Room portion of this party, and the mystery portion was well laid-out and easy to manage. We're looking for another excuse to have another party, and we'll definitely use mymysteryparty.com again.

well prepared kit (download version)
The kit gave enough information to prepare your own escape room, and also provided suggestion so that if you are creative you can add your own touches to the escape room. The murder mystery posed a challenge to many guest, although not elusive to all. One person was able to figure out the 'whodunnit' with the clues provided. I would strongly consider buying from this company again if in need of a murder mystery.
