This is my second "My mystery party" kit and I really enjoyed it. I downloaded the PDF, and did my own props. I loved that it was a block party, because I made it a potluck to make hosting easier on myself. Everyone got really into it, and we ran it for exactly 3 hours, just like my last one. That included mingling for ~45 minutes while eating finger food, then we started dinner and got round 2 cards shortly after. There was another hour of intense conversation as people interrogated each other after the victim reveal. Then we had a dessert "break" during which people wrote out their accusations. We compiled them, then did the round 3 wrap up, ending exactly 3 hours after we started. We didn't do the mini games, and I had about 13 people, but it was a great number for people to be easily interacting throughout the event and sharing what they needed with each other.
Interestingly, our victim was nearly 40 minutes late, so we spent a while realizing that many people did not like them-- and by the time the victim arrived, the characters were all ramped up!
We were a little disappointed that the complete motive behind the murder was something related to an optional character. I wish that character had been required so we would have had a clue what was going on there, rather than just getting the timeline correct. Taren on Apr 12th 2019
This was our first hosted event so we were a little wet behind the ears. I found the story to be not only interested, but there were some surprising character revelations that I didn't see coming. The game was humourous and well-liked by all. There were a few times when someone almost spit out their drink from something said and there were plenty of laughs. We ran this game twice and it was interesting to see how it was played a bit differently by the characters for each one.
I would highly recommend this game. 4 Paws Games and Publishing on Jan 7th 2019
This was a great time! RF on Apr 9th 2018
I was a little nervous as to how things would play out. I have never hosted a murder mystery party this size. Added to my stress was the number of players who didn't/couldn't commit to coming. Most of our guests were also surprisingly nervous.... until they got there.
It was easy to host, easy to participate and SO easy to accommodate any last minute person who decided to show up and still be a part.
We ended up with around 28 characters. (added the expansion pack) and LOVED it.
We would do it again. Angie on Nov 18th 2017
