The Annual Conference for Worldwide Prestige, Inc. was scheduled to be held this year at the Grande Plaza Hotel in New York City. It was leaked that the CEO, Mr. Eric Wilde, was to announce the end of the year figures and prove to the Board of Directors and investors worldwide that he had not only saved the company from an imminent bankruptcy one year ago when he was hired as the CEO, but had doubled profits from the highest profit year in the history of the company! Not only was Worldwide Prestige, Inc. safe from having its’ doors closed but now the employees believed it could mean a healthy holiday bonus for all! Back at corporate headquarters in Anonville, Texas, the atmosphere was electric as the employees buzzed about their upcoming trip to the Big Apple! However, the air turned stale as the shocking news flashed through the overhead speaker about their heroic Chief Executive Officer. To everyone’s dismay, Mr. Eric Wilde was missing! His personal effects were found in his desk; his car parked in his space since Friday afternoon, and not a single light on at his home! Since Eric started at Worldwide Prestige, he had worked 15 hours a day, 7 days a week and never missed a minute even to blow his nose! The Board of Directors was certain foul play was at hand but couldn’t involve the police just yet! The media would throw a Doom’s Day spin on the CEO’s absence and the company stocks would plummet without Mr. Wilde’s solid leadership in place. The show had to go on and everything had to appear normal or Worldwide Prestige, Inc. was destined for disaster. To everybody’s surprise, the Board appointed Jasmine Aurora, a prior Senior Risk Officer in the Internal Audit Department, to serve as interim CEO until Eric’s return. The Board also decided to proceed with the Annual Conference with great hope that Eric Wilde would return in time to attend. All stockholders were extended an invitation to the yearly strategy sessions and would undoubtedly figure something was amiss when Mr. Wilde was absent from the meetings. The employees arrived at the Grande Plaza Hotel and kicked off the conference with breakout sessions and critical thinking seminars. The Board reported Mr. Wilde suffered a relentless case of ‘jet lag’ from his early morning flight and the stockholders accepted the story...for the time being. After a grueling day of meetings, the employees of Worldwide Prestige, Inc. were excited to relax and unwind at the Annual Holiday Party starting with delicious holiday eggnog, followed by a festive feast and topped off with the exciting awards ceremony. Upon arrival to the South Oak Ballroom, the business men and women enjoyed quizzing each other with fun ice-breaking movie trivia until Jasmine Aurora announced that a delicious buffet was ready in the Dining Room across the hallway but to everyone’s shock, a ransom note for Eric Wilde surfaced! Panicked emotions flooded through the South Oak Ballroom as the team threw together a plan to save Mr. Wilde. Adding to the terror, the employees of Worldwide Prestige were aghast to discover a dead body! Knowing the murderer and possibly the kidnapper was amongst them, they decided to rally together to figure out whodunit and fast! Were these two events related?
